More professionals are becoming aware of the benefits of meditation, such as relaxation, stress management, and mindfulness to a certain extent, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to meditation than that. The organic process of meditation can have a measurable and lasting effect on physiology, the brain, personal attitudes and psychology, aspects of one’s identity and well-being, the ability to grow beyond personal pain and limitations, and the way one responds to and processes life events. Meditation is an invaluable tool for addressing those issues in a holistic way in both the personal and professional areas of one’s life.
As a professional in the Health & Human Services, whether you’re a nurse, social worker, psychotherapist, a counselor or in a related profession such as a life coach you provide what services you can, and use what tools you can to assist your clients in making life improvements, improving their health, coping with crisis, reforming themselves, etc. Somewhere along the process, depending on the specific nature of your work, there comes a point where the client has to take a more active and responsible role in helping themselves. Meditation provides a process of personal conditioning–physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually–that enables you to do that.
Introduction to the Organic Meditation Process is a 10-week course that will prepare you to become proficient in guiding yourself through the natural, organic process of meditation. Understanding this process is essential to becoming an effective meditator. The course is the first level of study in The Meditation Program at the City College of New York, and is a hands-on opportunity to explore meditation as a tool in health and human services by exploring how to use that tool effectively in your own life.
Instructor: Antonia “Dr. M” Martinez, PhD., Spiritual Director of the Inner Life Society, is an expert in Meditation, Life Transformation, Personal Alchemy, and Metaphysical Psychology. The meditation program is adapted from the Inner Life Society’s Meditation Instructors Certification program
