The Spiritual Reality Behind Swine Flu: Revelations of the Pig Medicine Path (Part 4)
(Partial Transcript from the Inner Power Hour radio show hosted by Dr. Antonia M)
Being in a state of balance is your greatest immunity against infection, mentally, physically, emotionally, and of course spirituality. Because what disease does is exploit weakness. The potential for a swine flu pandemic is symbolic of the potential exploitation of particular weaknesses present in the collective human consciousness and in the human condition at this time. I was so curious about the timing of this outbreak. Why now? I started thinking about all of the pig clichés that we use:
- living high on the hog
- Bring home the bacon
- Chauvinists pig
- Big fat greedy pig.
- Filthy pig
- Capitalist pig
You can think of others I’m sure.
It’s no coincidence that swine flu is manifesting now along side global economic turbulence. The pig, or I should say a healthy pig, is a symbol of prosperity and abundance. A pig with the flu is trying to tell us something about our economic health. All of us already know that’s in pretty bad shape. But considering that the flu can kill, Consciousness is giving us a strong message and warning that the potential for economic death—not collapse—death, is more real than we want to believe IF (big giant IF) we don’t start taking care of ourselves or more accurately each other. The pig is a social animal. So it’s not just a message for world leaders. We as a community have to be responsible for our own economic balance, for balance in our lifestyles, which will mean, for most people, releasing many of our “pig-headed” views about ourselves and what constitutes prosperity and abundance.
Do you overeat? Do you overspend? Do you overwork yourself? Do you overcompensate? Do you worry too much? Do you overreact? Are you a glutton for punishment? Is your home, a pigsty? Bring everything into balance. Clean up the messes in your life – (that’s workshop #3 in the Inner Power Workbook, by the way). Even though we associate the pig with sloppiness and filth, the pig is typically a clean animal. So clearly we need to clean up our act. We need to clean house on many different levels. We need to cleanse our emotions, minds and our bodies. As a matter of fact, did you now that the US House and Senate were about to vote on a bill that outlaws organic farming (Bill HR 875)? I think you already see the insidiousness of the politics and capitalism behind that. Whole organic foods are natural medicine, which also means they’re natural enemies of the chemical and pharmaceutical companies, and Big Agriculture. But aside from that, if the water is polluted, and the air is polluted, and the food is on steroids, the human immune system—maybe even the whole DNA structure—will stay perpetually in a weakened condition and may very well deteriorate with each new generation. You won’t need bioterrorism at that point. With our defenses down, any little thing could kill us. And that brings us to another revelation of the pig medicine path: the need for purification—before it’s too late. I don’t mean to sound like a doomsday machine but that’s where we are. But there’s still time to change, that’s why the sign is here. On that note I want to recommend a book to you entitled Alkalize or Die by Theodore A. Baroody. Get it. Read it. Follow it. Pass it on.
To an extent, Pig medicine path is also about boundaries. Not so much in the traditional sense of setting boundaries but more in terms of being aware of and taking responsibility for what is present in your space, more specifically, the communal space. That means your household. That means your office. That means your apartment building. That means your neighborhood. That means your school or your children’s classroom. That means your church, temple, synagogue or other spiritual circle. That means your government, and so on.
I think the presence of swine flu is a reminder that we have allowed our space to be invaded—mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, politically, financially. That’s what viruses do. They invade your space. Pigs get aggressive when you invade their space. So I think this flu potentially foreshadows greater unrest among people and if directed wisely, more of those people taking initiative to create change.
