Should I quit my job now or not?

June 11, 2008

Dear Dr. M,

How do I know whether I should quit my job? I have other passions I want to pursue but they’re not financially viable right now. At the same time I know that freedom from my job would give me more time to focus on my passion. But then again, there’s rent to pay. How can I tell if I’m “taking a chance” on my future or just making a dumb move?

~Signed, Enough

Dear Enough,

Intuitively, I believe you used the word ‘now’ because you already know that leaving is a necessary step, but maybe not just yet–even though you might be thinking, “enough already with this 9 to 5″. With that in mind, I think the real question is, how to determine the right time to leave. Here are 5 points to consider to help you intuit the right time (and the most empowered way) to make your move. [Read more]

Eat to Nourish, Not to Feed (or How to Satisfy Your Deeper Hunger)

February 15, 2008

Dr. Antonia M, “The Inner Power Doctor” shares some essential wisdom to help you stop struggling, start flowing, and make a positive radical change in your life.

Enlightened Masters have a way of speaking on many levels at once. There’s the message you hear with your ears at the moment, and then there’s the deeper wisdom that unfolds later when your awareness has evolved and you’re ready to understand what else the message was about. Some time ago in enlightenment school (mystery school or wisdom school if you prefer), our Teacher gave us what I thought was a simple yet radical lesson in bringing true health consciousness to our eating habits and to the dinner table. But just the other day, I’m at the computer, and all of a sudden I became aware that there was a hidden teaching in there about tending to deeper needs of the soul. [Read more]

Keep Your Dreams On Track! Strategies for Women & Girls (and fellas)

January 17, 2008

I recently appeared as a guest on Soulfully Speaking, a radio show for women and girls hosted by Dr. Anita Davis-Defoe. We had an interesting and deep conversation about staying motivated and on track with our goals, preventing our dream from ending up in our back pocket, and not letting fear, confusion and everyday responsibilities derail us from our purpose. We also talked about how to help connect young women-to-be with higher aspirations than the media and society may “inspire” in them. While the show addresses women and girls, the issues and strategies we discussed were universal. A partial transcript follows. Or you can listen to the full interview by clicking the play button. 7 Spiritual Necessities for Changing Times

July 5, 2007

It’s no secret that we are in the midst of changing times. The climate is changing. Politics are changing. Standards are changing. Change is constant and change is cyclical. But we have reached a point in our cycle where change has started to accelerate. Things are starting to heat up on planet Earth in more ways than one. But change and acceleration happen according to the nature of the energy behind them. And the nature of that energy is determined by the collective consciousness that put the energy out there in the first place. So if there’s anything that needs to change in changing times, it’s collective consciousness. Host, Rev. Dr. Antonia Martinez discusses 7 spiritual necessities that need to be addressed in collective consciousness, and explores the role of metaphysicians, energy workers, spiritual futurists, and others in creating a new beginning for changing times.

Simplify Your Life Around Your Great Work

February 21, 2006

Whatever you desire to do in life, whatever creation you wish to bring to life, whatever dream you desire to make real–that is your Great Work. And the great secret about performing this Great Work is to simplify your life around it. We have, I think, grown so accustomed to self-distraction and multitasking that a lack of focus and absence of meaningful self-discipline have become a way of life for many. We often worship productivity to the point of pointlessness, having only an afterthought (if any thought at all) about the effectiveness of our efforts or the efficacy with which those efforts fulfill their purpose. So, today, right now, this second, I pose to you a question: What would your life be like if you simplified it around your Great Work?

Imagine stripping away your unnecessary and fruitless routines, attachments and involvements to make your Great Work the center of attention and the love of your life. How many hours in a day, how many miles on your Path would you gain to advance your Work? How different would your life be if your Great Work came first and foremost? How fulfilling would it be? There’s really only one way to find out.

Think of one thing–anything–in your life that you could do without, and fill that space instead with steady attention on your Great Work.
